Romanticism

Last Tuesday I spent the afternoon with the wonderful Damsel Elysium, a hugely talented sound artist with whom I’m working on a small project at the end of this month. I’ve been asked by the Polish Cultural Institute to put together a performance to go together with the launch of a new translation of Adam Mickiewicz’s ‘Ballads and Romances’ by the brilliant Charles Kraszewski. I’ve teamed up with Damsel Elysium and the fantastic Polish dancer and choreographer, Ilona Gumowska. The idea is to improvise between the 3 of us, weaving together Mickiewicz’s text with Damsel Elysium’s sounds and Ilona’s movement. It’s a bit of an experiment and I’m very excited about it.

Anyway, on Tuesday DE and I walked through the mud and the rain to take some photos at Hadleigh Castle near Leigh-on-Sea. Here are some of the (I hope) suitably Romantic (with a capital R) results.

As soon as the event is officially announced, I’ll send out some info.

Spread the word.
